Reducing Youth Arrests: Prevention and Pre-Arrest Diversion

NJJN recommends that commuinities prioritize the development and adequate funding of arrest prevention and pre-arrest diversion policies including access to services, to reduce the overall number of youth—as well as the overrepresentation of youth of color, youth with disabilities, and LGBTQ/gender nonconforming youth—from entering the justice system.
